A door opening is different from a replacement key
If the working key is on the seat or inside the cabin, you may only need access to the car. A key locked in the trunk can require a different approach. If the key is lost, tell us before we arrange a lockout-only visit.
Help us find the vehicle
Give us the address and a useful description of the parking location. In a garage, include the floor, entrance and any gate code or access restriction that you are authorized to share. At a shopping center, a store name or row marker is more useful than the center name alone.
What the technician checks
We check authorization, the vehicle and the access problem before choosing a method. Tools and procedures vary by model. Forcing the door with improvised tools can damage trim, seals or wiring, so explain any attempt already made.
Once the door is open, check that you have the working key before the technician leaves. If the fob is present but will not start the vehicle, that may require key or fob service rather than another opening attempt.
Lockout estimates
The $29 service-call fee is separate from the work. A lockout job may be around $40 to $150 for the work, but that range is not a guaranteed total. The technician confirms the job and price on site before starting. See our pricing and parts-warranty information.
For house or business access problems, use our 24/7 emergency locksmith service.
Questions about car lockout service
The key is in the trunk. Can you help?
Tell us the make, model and year, and whether the cabin is also locked. Trunk access varies by vehicle, so we confirm the approach for your model.
What if my ID is locked inside?
Tell us when you call. The technician will explain what authorization checks are needed for your situation.
Can I book for someone else?
You can help arrange a visit, but the person receiving service must be able to establish authorization to access the vehicle.
